Gold medal for Diederik Vergeer

Every year, around 520 people take part in the NNKC; making it one of the major trade competitions in the Netherlands and it is the only one of its kind anywhere in the world. It’s the skill of the person that is being assessed, not the product!

During the tastings the participants, who come from the cheese industry, wholesalers, speciality stores, retailers and knowledge institutes and related organisations, are presented with ten samples of cheese. The prizes go to the testers that are best able to describe the type, age, taste and the quality.

The best testers can win bronze, silver and gold medals. The overall winner receives the Golden Cheese Trier! This is a prestigious award in the Dutch cheese sector. Which just goes to show once again that the Vergeer family knows all there is to know about cheese.
